Hydrogen Peroxide is an excellent alternative to harsh chemicals like chlorine bleach, and its mild yet effective qualities make it useful for multiple applications around the house.
Cleaning Cuts
Its antiseptic properties make it ideal for helping clean and protect minor cuts or scrapes.
Pour it on a wound and watch the bubbles fly! It kills bacteria, but soap and warm water perform the same thing in a much gentler way. Hydrogen peroxide may irritate the delicate tissue around cuts or sores, causing them to heal more slowly. Still, it's a good idea to keep it in your first-aid box in case you don't have access to clean water.
Stain remover & Cleaner
Hydrogen peroxide is an effective stain remover and cleaner due to its antimicrobial, bleaching and oxidizing properties. It is a colorless liquid composed of two hydrogen atoms and two oxygen atoms, with the chemical formula H2O2. Hydrogen peroxide is a very common household ingredient that can be used to remove tough stains.
To help keep whites white, you can add a cup of hydrogen peroxide to your laundry in order to achieve truly dazzling results.
For blood stains on clothing, dab on Hydrogen Peroxide and leave for 20 minutes before rinsing off. Colour test a hidden piece of fabric before you start as Hydrogen Peroxide can fade fabric colour. Do not use on woollen or nylon fabrics.
To keep white clothes, towels and sheets white, add the correct amount of Hydrogen Peroxide to your wash.
Hair Dye
Hydrogen peroxide can also be used to bleach or colour your hair. Simply follow the product's usage and safety instructions. It is critical to exercise caution because greater quantities might burn your scalp and skin. Furthermore, excessive dye application might cause your strands to become dry and brittle, making them appear thinner.
Acne
Hydrogen peroxide is found in a variety of pimple-fighting ointments and mixes. And they appear to be just as effective as benzoyl peroxide, the standard acne treatment. However, the chemical might be irritating, particularly if you have scars, scrapes, or sores on your face. Consult your doctor before using it on your skin in any way.
Disinfectant
It's used in hospitals because it's particularly effective at killing a parasite called cryptosporidiosis (crypto), which spreads through human faeces. Even bleach doesn't seem to be able to get rid of these tenacious germs. Hydrogen peroxide may also be effective against the norovirus, which is both difficult to kill and very contagious.
